| Research released in the British Medical Journal, June 2005 Outcomes of planned HOMEBIRTHS with Certified Professional Midwives were associated with lower rates of medical intervention but similar intrapartum and neonatal mortality to that of hospital births in the USA. Specific Results Showed: Epidural rates were : 4.7% Episiotomy: 2.1% Forceps: 1% Vacuum extraction: 0 .6% CSECTION: 3.7% All rates ARE substantially lower for low risk women having hospital births in the United States. |
